Import flies via Your Own Lab:
1. Please confirm the following:
- Your lab has been approved by BAPHIQ. (How to become an approved lab?)
- The institute where you would like to import flies from has also been approved by BAPHIQ. (How to become an approved institute?)
-Please contact Flycore in advance to obtain an electronic version of the Import Permit.
2. Please inform the institute the following (download sample):
- Please provide the institute the electronic version of the Import Permit. Ask the institute to print out the Permit, and attach the Permit to the package.。
- Please follow the recipient information on your Permit. When sending the package, please use EMS or FedEX. Do not use regular mail.
- Please only use the recipient information (PI name and Inspection Station Address) on the permit; otherwise, your package will not be cleared by customs and will be cancelled.
Please ask the institute to inform you the following:
A. Shipping method
B. Shippig date
C. Tracking number
D. Number of vials in the package
The number of vials is required when clearing customs. To avoid any suspicion of smuggling, please ask the institute to provide the accurate number of the vials in the package. Please do not include any other items (i.e. plasmid) to avoid any possible law violation.
3. Your lab will have to arrange the importation and inspection process.
4. After the flies are delivered to your lab, please log the information in the Record Form for Laboratory Fruit Fly Use. (Please refer to Appendix 3 of “Quarantine Requirements for The Importation of Laboratory Fruit Fly” ）
Please note that it is requited to fill out the form for inspection purposes.
